According to a 2014 CBS News survey, 1/6 plastic surgeons were subjected to all sorts of frivilous law suits in 2013.
Frivolous law suits are a true nuisance for any plastic surgery practice. They drain time and resources, sap a surgeon’s emotional well being, and potentially ruin the surgeon’s reputation.
The simple tip: Use patient videos to combat frivolous law suits and convert more patients. These videos become a part of a patient’s medical records in addition to before and after patient photographs.
The post surgical videos, taken at various post surgical intervals, become the surgeon’s private tutor, teaching him/her best practices and help a surgeon communicate with and manage their patients more effectively, especially during the early post surgical periods.
Today, modern technology has made it possible for almost any patient, especially those with severe physical disabilities or residing in remote shoot these videos themselves at home. After downloading the currently available apps (see below), patients can then use these videos as virtual office visits via the internet.
These video records foster a close bond and good will between the surgeon and the patient, helping to prevent most frivolous lawsuits. Additionally, the captured details in these videos will make it easier for defense attorneys and liability insurance carriers to dismiss, defend, or settle frivolous law suits.
“I am in a solo plastic surgery practice in Bethesda, Maryland for 5 years. About a year ago, I was introduced to, and adopted the ‘Plastic Surgery In Motion’s ‘Range of Motion Protocol’ patient video recording program to keep my pre-and post-surgical patient records over and beyond my standard before and after surgery patient photographs. I simply download the Plastic Surgery In Motion app to my iPad and shoot these videos after taking the usual photos. It generally add 3 to 5 minutes to the sessions.
I am extremely pleased that, with these videos, I can gather so much patient information with such ease. I am also gratified by how well the patients welcome and appreciate such minimal extra effort in interaction with them throughout their entire surgical experience. I highly recommend this program to all my colleagues all around the world.”
